Toei Animation Unveils New One Piece Logo for Anime's 25th Anniversary

The long-running One Piece anime revealed the 25th anniversary logo of the beloved series earlier this week on X.

Toei Animation posted a short video to its account revealing the logo, stating, "2024 will be the 25th anniversary of the anime series ONE PIECE! Here's the special logo made for the anniversary! Stay tuned for what's happening next year!" The logo, shown below, features the moment Luffy received his signature hat from Shanks.

One Piece began as a manga created by Eiichiro Oda. It follows the story of Monkey D. Luffy, who dreams of being the Pirate King. The manga centers on Luffy's adventures with his crew, The Straw Hat Pirates, as they search the seas for the mythical treasure called the "One Piece." The manga was first serialized in May 1997 in Weekly Shonen Jump, over 26 years ago. Since then, it has become the best-selling and most popular manga in the world. The manga continues to this day, making it not only the best-selling manga of all time but also one of the longest-running.

The One Piece anime, produced by Toei Animation, first aired in October 1999. The first season ran for 61 episodes and ended in March 2001. As of this writing, there are 20 seasons of the anime with over 1,000 episodes. In celebration of the anime's 25th anniversary, it has been announced that the One Piece YouTube channel will be streaming the anime non-stop for a year. This means that fans, both old and new, can watch the series for free. The channel will begin streaming the anime on Sunday, Oct. 29.

On Aug. 31 of this year, the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of One Piece was released on Netflix. While many live-action anime adaptations end up falling flat for fans, the One Piece live-action series surpassed all expectations, to the delight of its viewers. While many hoped that the show would be successful, mostly due to Oda being a major consultant, the live-action's popularity still came as a surprise to some. The second season of the live-action adaptation has been announced, and earlier this week, audiences got a sneak-peak behind the scenes of One Piece's Season 2 production.

The One Piece anime will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2024. It can be streamed on Crunchyroll and Netflix and watched on the One Piece YouTube channel starting Oct. 29.
