Alleged Dragon Ball Daima Staff Revealed on Social Media

The staff for the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima animated series has allegedly been confirmed after a post on X (formerly Twitter) claims to have an official staff list for the show.

X user SupaChronicles posted an announcement on the platform last week claiming to confirm the official staff list for Dragon Ball Daima, the next installment of the long-running Dragon Ball anime franchise. According to the post, the series will see Dragon Ball veteran Yoshitaka Yashima and One Piece alum Aya Komaki as co-directors, with Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru in charge of character designs and screenplay by Yuuko Kakihara.

While this information is not yet officially revealed and therefore cannot be confirmed, if the list is accurate, it would mean that Dragon Ball Daima is in the hands of genre veterans, many of whom have experience with the Dragon Ball franchise already. Komaki has worked on One Piece and several of its films as director, while Kakihara was the screenwriter for Cells at Work.

Series creator and longtime character designer Akira Toriyama is notably absent from the alleged staff list, however, leading to some concerns from fans about the show's quality if its creator is not directly involved with the anime project. In either case, trailers and promotional materials have provided fans with enough information to predict the show's setting within the main Dragon Ball chronology, placing it between DBZ and the current-running Dragon Ball Super.

The reveal of Dragon Ball Daima was initially met with some confusion and controversy, with many questioning the demand for a lower-stakes spinoff series and wondering how it would affect the main canon. However, with series veterans allegedly on the staff roster for the show as of now, some of these concerns have fallen to the wayside as fans gear up for the show's release sometime next year.

Meanwhile, series creator Akira Toriyama is currently at work on new episodes and chapters of Dragon Ball Super alongside a new adaptation of his classic manga series Sand Land, which is likewise set to premiere next year. A video game adaptation of the series is also in the works from Bandai Namco and set for a 2024 reveal, although as of this writing, no specific release date has been set for any of these projects.

Dragon Ball Daima will premiere on Crunchyroll with Englisch subtitles in 2024.
